Guide on Increasing Pageviews

The biggest question of all time for any blogger: How do I increase page views? What’s the secret? What’s the formula? There’s got to be a magic formula!
I struggled the month of September with a lot of things on my blog, which led me to rebranding from The Bite Sized Foodie to The Daily Pursuit. Rebranding my blog was the best thing I did, so I attribute my increase in traffic to rebranding + a lot of other things.

Truth be told, and I’m sorry to say, there really is not magic formula or secret to increasing traffic. What I do know that there are strategies and tools you can use as a blogger to boost readership and traffic. Before we dive into this, remember it takes hard work to increase traffic and it takes time. Good things come in time!
Creating the proper mindset when working your blog is also key, you can’t expect things to grow overnight. You also can’t expect to make money overnight, and don’t purely blog just for the money otherwise you’re setting yourself up for failure.
It’s kind of like working out, results don’t happen overnight. You have to be disciplined and put in the hard work. Of course, it has to be fun for you if it’s not fun then there is no passion.

The month of October I really dug deep into finding some strategies to implement into my blog to increase readership and engagement. To be honest I really got stuck on the whole ‘followers/numbers’ concept, which is bad. Don’t doubt yourself, or compare yourself to someone else. You will only dwindle into the blogger blues. Instead appreciate where that person is in their blogging, and aim to reach higher for yourself. Work hard, set goals, and celebrate your successes: big or small.

How I Increased Pageviews in October
- Invest in Resources to learn, learn, learn
- Grow Social media platforms
- Create Strategies and Implement them
- Stay consistent, and always engage with others
- Be authentic and genuine
My overall goals for October after rebranding were to promote as much as humanly possible. Everyone says to start monetizing your blog now, while I do implement passive income – affiliate marketing, that has not been my sole focus. I personally wanted to increase my following before monetizing.
This is a personal choice for me, so don’t think that you have to follow a certain order or take things one step at a time. It’s up to you on the steps you’d like to take, and in which order to successfully grow your blog.
Invest in Resources
I’ll be honest, in saying I’ve invested in quite a few resources to help my blog. Most of my success came from investing the ebook The She Approach to Boosting Your Blog Traffic.
No Ana does not offer some quick tip formula for reaching 1K followers overnight. Instead, she offers resources and tools to guide you into using strategies for your blog.
My main focus and goals were to increase page views, traffic, and overall engagement. I will be honest in saying that I really did only focus on an increase in numbers, especially on Instagram. For the longest time. It took me awhile to get out of that mindset. Once I was able to let go of the idea of ‘numbers’ I actually saw an increase in traffic.
The second resource that I have appreciated a lot is Tailwind. Tailwind is a basically a pinning tool for Pinterest. You can schedule Pin’s throughout the week so that you’re not manually pinning daily. You can schedule for however many pins you would like per day, for me, I pin 50x a day.
Tailwind tribes is like the icing on top of this Tailwind cupcake. Basically, it’s like a Pinterest Group board in a sense. You are invited to join these tribes, and you pin your content to these tribes so that they can be repined by other bloggers. Most tribes require that you repin so many pins while also sharing your own pins.
When you pin other pins from the tribes, they are added to your daily schedule. If you haven’t started implementing Tailwind tribes into promoting your blog, I highly recommend you start now!
Social Media Growth
Instagram and Twitter are the social media platform so where I have been focusing a lot of my promotion. Instagram is a platform that I have a love-hate relationship with. I think it’s the whole ‘follow/unfollow’ tactic that you see occurring frequently. I increased followers around +100, but like I said I haven’t been focusing on #s as much.
Recently I’ve been noticing a lot more engagement and genuine comments from followers. Let me tell you, it’s such a genuine and rewarding feeling to have engaged readers. It lets me know, that I am making a voice for myself and what I have to say resonates with others.
This post received the most comments I’ve ever had in a single post to Instagram. It was the most honest, and truthful caption I’ve ever written.
While this one has been receiving the most ‘likes’, there aren’t as many comments.
A great way to promote your content is through Facebook groups. I really started actively participating in the groups. There a lot of groups that want you to engage in conversation with other bloggers, not just promote your content. Which I enjoy because it creates genuine and authentic relationships, which in turn results in Pageviews and honest feedback.
Create Strategies and Implement Them
So obviously everyone is different, which is a good thing. The biggest take away from one of my favorite blogging resources ‘Career in the Making’ by Krista Aoki – is that you should strategize and restrategize, see what works for you and doesn’t work for you.
Which is why I say there is no secret or magic formula. Since we are all different, what works for one person isn’t going to work for the other. We have to decide, as bloggers – most importantly, as a business person that in order to grow we have to keep strategizing.
Once I came to this realization that I need to determine my goals, create a strategy, and then determine what works, and doesn’t work, my mindset as a blogger shifted. I didn’t have to keep wondering why other people were promising growth overnight because what that blogger may have done could be completely different to what I want to do to grow my blog.
I know, I know I keep referencing this to working out – so let’s talk about eating habits. If we consistently eat healthy meals than we’ll probably notice a change in our bodies, right? Just like blogging if we consistently post and engage, we will notice a change in our following. Again, there’s no secret number to how many blog posts to write a week.
Maybe one blogger posts 5x a week, and that’s working amazingly for them. Whereas another blogger may post 2x a week yet both of them are seeing an increase in traffic. That’s because they stay consistent, they don’t post 5x one week and then 1x the next.
Creating consistency in your blog business builds trust in your followers. With trust, becomes loyal followers which in turn is just an overall win-win. Same goes for an email list or social media, make sure to stay as consistent as possible.Creating consistency in your blog business builds trust in your followers. But we are all human and maybe one week you can’t post on your normal schedule, just be honest with your readers!
My last strategy was to take what I learned from this ebook, and use it. Which is how I came up with the above strategies that I used. I am going to be 100% honest in saying that I accredit a lot of my success in October to this book.
I didn’t just read the book though, and let it sit on my computer. I took notes and indulged in the information Ana offered. There are 10 chapters to this ebook and Ana covers the strategies that have doubled her Pageviews, consistently. Like I said this is not the book for you if you expect to win 1K Pageviews overnight. This is a book you want to sit down and take notes and use the tools provided to increase Pageviews within the next month.
What I loved most about this book is that Ana up front says this is not an overnight success, it takes strategies and hard work to reach increased Pageviews. There are also tons of other resources such as a list of Facebook groups for bloggers, two months free of tailwind, and more.
If there was one thing I could say that I didn’t enjoy in this book, is that I wanted more! But honestly, it’s 107 pages and has plenty of info not to mention it’s a very affordable price.
Results for Strategies
I always feel strange sharing my personal statistics but I think this will help demonstrate my growth from using the strategies I have mentioned. I don’t like to get too stuck on these numbers like I said, as long as I have feedback from readers and engagement then I’m happy. However, if these numbers keep growing and I have absolutely no engagement, then I would say I need to reassess where I’m at.
- Work hard, Stay Consistent
- Promote as much as possible
- Invest invaluable resources
- Create strategies and use them
- Be authentic and Genuine
- Join your blogging tribe
