What Actually Happens in Your First Month of Nutrition Coaching

A step-by-step look at your first 30 days with a real 1:1 nutrition coach, from application to your first plan adjustment.

By Tristan Winters, Founder & Head Coach

If you've never worked with a coach, the process can feel like a black box. You fill out a form, money leaves your account, and something is supposed to happen. Here's exactly what your first month looks like when you sign up for 1:1 coaching at TDP. No mystery.

Week 0: Application and consult

You apply, it takes about two minutes and costs nothing. Within hours a coach texts you back and books your free consultation call. On the call we walk through your goals, your history, your schedule, and whether TDP is the right fit. If it isn't, we'll tell you.

The consult is not a sales pitch. It's the first place we start learning about you. Bring the questions you actually have , about the plan, about the process, about what you've tried before. The more honest that conversation is, the better the plan we can build later.

Week 1: Intake and your first plan

You complete a detailed intake, nutrition history, training, sleep, energy, stress, schedule, the honest version of what your day looks like. Tristan uses that to build your first plan: macro targets, cardio protocol, supplementation, lifestyle goals.

Your plan hits your inbox with a walkthrough, not just a PDF. You know why every number is what it is. You also know exactly what your first check-in is going to ask for, so nothing about the process feels like a surprise.

Week 2: Learning to hit the numbers

Most of week two is skill-building. Tracking your food in a way that fits your life. Learning what your usual meals look like on paper. Figuring out where your protein comes from on a normal Tuesday. This is unglamorous, and it's the most important week of the month.

If the plan needs a small tweak because it's obviously off, we tweak it, we don't make you white-knuckle a week that isn't working. Your coach is not a hall monitor. Your coach is a problem-solver.

Week 3: Your first real check-in

The check-in is where the coaching lives. You send in your numbers, your biofeedback, and a short honest note about how the week actually went. Tristan reads it, personally, and adjusts your plan. Not a template. Not a script. Your plan.

The adjustment might be tiny. A few grams of carbs, a small change to cardio, one lift swapped in your program. Or it might be bigger, a diet break if you're clearly under-recovered, a full reset of expectations if life just changed. The point isn't the size of the change. The point is that a real human looked at your week and moved something.

Week 4: Momentum

By week four, energy is usually the first thing that shifts. Sleep and hunger follow. Clothes start to fit differently before the scale gets loud about it. Body composition change is a longer game, most real, visible change happens over 3+ months of consistent work.

You'll also start noticing your own patterns. Which meals hold you. Which days go sideways. Which parts of the plan are easy and which parts you have to design around. That awareness is worth more than any single week of macros.

What you're really paying for

You're not paying for a plan. Plans are cheap. You're paying for the human on the other end of your check-in every week, adjusting the plan to you. That's the reason it works when the last five things didn't.

You're also paying for a floor. On the weeks you would have quit on your own, the check-in is still due. Someone is still reading it. Someone is still helping you figure out the next step. That accountability is the quiet thing that turns a good month into a real transformation.

If you want to see if it's a fit

If you want to see whether TDP is a fit, apply free, or read more about the 1-on-1 coaching program. Worst case: you get an honest conversation and walk away with a clearer plan for whatever you do next.
